Theme of the celebrations

Wake Up Bharat :
Today Bharat is the most ancient civilization with maximum youth population. We see that youth of Bharat is educated, well-placed and sincere.  They want to know more and more about the country, its history and culture and also to serve the country whole heartedly. Service of the masses appeal to them. Swami Vivekananda had given the clarion call which had touched many young hearts who then jumped in the fire of freedom struggle for the independence of Bharat. Today when the youth is again poised for a take-off, the message of Swami Vivekananda would inspire them to take Bharat to ever new heights.

Enlighten the World :
Swami Vivekananda during the darkest period in the history of India, saw India emerging as the teacher of the world. Ancient India was considered Jagat Guru by the world. Contemporary world requires a clear goal and destination materially prosperous and spiritually enlightened, if it is not to flounder on its way. It is not only in the India's interest, but in world's interest that Bharat emerges as the leading light of the world. The 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda is the most appropriate occasion for India to prepare herself to rise as the Jagat-Guru and wake up to its potentialities & responsibilities and enlighten the world.

Social Harmony :

The celebrations aim at taking message of Swami Vivekananda to all the sections of our society. Swamiji was the revolutionary thinker who triggered the renaissance of the Indian nationalism. He emphasized on the awakening of the masses without in any way hurting their faith in Sanatana Dharma. On  his 150th Birth anniversary all the sections of the society are eager to participate spontaneously. With the view of promoting social harmony, the committee has planned Panchamukhi (five pronged) programmes to involve all the members of the society under five  segments.

Welcome!

“What our country now wants are muscles of iron and nerves of steel, gigantic will which nothing can resist, which can penetrate into the mysteries and the secrets of the universe and will accomplish their purpose in any fashion, even it meant going down to the bottom of the ocean and meeting death face to face.”
- Swami Vivekananda

Swami Vivekananda, the foremost disciple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was the first Hindu missionary in modern times to go abroad and re-enunciate to the world, the message of the universal religion – Sanatana Dharma, an inclusive message which denounced no religion and rejected none. Swami Vivekananda was a staunch patriot, nation-builder, social scientist and a master organizer. He was the first to set in motion and ignite the forces of national revival and put in process the re-construction of the country, which was demoralized and whose energies were scattered by the alien rule. He laid the foundation for the regeneration of the nation by making it aware of its soul, Hindu Dharma.
Intensive preparations are afoot throughout the length and breadth of our country to celebrate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda from January 12, 2013 to January 12, 2014. Different organisations and also Government are planning big celebrations.
People of Bharat have decided to join together and celebrate the great occasion. Today when the nation is at the crossroads, these celebrations present the most potent opportunity to rid the nation of its spiritual, intellectual, social, political and national lethargy and confusion.
Important social leaders, thinkers, admirers of Swami Vivekananda along with experienced volunteers of many service organisations and youth representatives have come together to form the "Working Committee" at the national level and  39 at regional level.  These committees have started contacting  eminent intellectuals, youth icons, social and spiritual thought leaders, achievers in scientific, economic, administrative fields and many others to form "Swami Vivekananda Sardh Shati Samaroh Samiti" or "Swami Vivekananda 150th Birth Anniversary Celebration Committee" both at National and the state levels.
